New Early College Academy

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new early college academy – a four-course accounting track that will allow interested students at Haverhill High School to earn up to 12 college credits at UMass Lowell. The academy, which starts this month, is the first accounting-focused, early college initiative in Massachusetts. According to the U.S. census, it is projected that the majority of the population will be minorities by 2045. Because students in their junior and senior years are typically contemplating career choices and navigating their way through their suitable interests, the MSCPA believes that timing is key, and the end result could be a lifetime of career fulfillment for these young professionals.

Enrichment Programs for Sophmores and Juniors

In an effort to introduce the accounting profession to minority high school students, the MSCPA sponsored two, week-long programs this summer: Careers in Accounting and Management Professions (C.A.M.P.) at UMass Isenberg School of Management and Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP) at Fisher College in Boston. One of the highlights of the week was the students’ trip to Fenway Park where they enjoyed their own private tour and presentation by Tim Zue, CFO of the Red Sox. They had a blast!

Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship Opportunities

In May 2018, the MSCPA was thrilled to award $1,000 scholarships to four high school seniors who will be studying accounting in college. In addition to their scholarship, each receives an introduction to the accounting firm that sponsored them, with the potential of leading to an internship and mentoring opportunity. By attending C.A.M.P. or ACAP, your students have the potential to receive up to $10,000 during their college years. Our scholarship applications will be open on November 1. Stay tuned for details!

Student Membership for High School Students

Please encourage your students to take advantage of our MSCPA FREE high school membership! High school juniors and seniors with potential interest in majoring in accounting or business will be directly informed about scholarship opportunities, conferences and workshops. If a student wants to learn more about the accounting program at a particular college, we’ll introduce them to an MSCPA student member or professor who can help.
