MSCPA 2020 Free Summer Diversity Programs – Registration is Now Open

The MSCPA offers and supports summer programming for underrepresented students to learn more about the accounting profession. These programs offer a diverse set of learning experiences that includes panel discussions, interactive exercises, field trips and guest lectures from area business and government professionals. The programs are designed to be fun, challenging and engaging. Students will explore, network and increase their understanding about college and the business world while making new friends and developing interpersonal skills in a real-life college setting.

ACE (Accounting Careers Exploratory) Leadership Program
The ACE (Accounting Careers Exploratory) Leadership Program is a free one-week non-residency program for underrepresented high school students interested in learning more about a career in accounting and business.

Dates: July 27 – July 31, 2020 or August 3 – August 7, 2020
Locations: Fisher College & Suffolk University
*Students will be placed in a program based on their availability.  

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, March 18.

High School Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship Opportunity

The MSCPA is proud to support and host summer programs for underrepresented students to learn more about the incredible opportunities available to them in the accounting profession. MSCPA college and career readiness summer program (ACAP & C.A.M.P.) graduates are welcome to apply for the Diversity & Inclusion High School Scholarship! Recipients can renew this scholarship each year, with awards amounting up to approximately $10,000 over the course of their college career. If you have a student that has graduated from an MSCPA summer program, please encourage them to take advantage of this opportunity. Careers in Accounting and Management Professions (C.A.M.P.) Program – Save The Date

UMass Amherst will once again offer their residential Careers in Management Professions (C.A.M.P.) program from Sunday, July 19 – Friday, July 24, 2020. We will provide the application as soon as it is available. Stay tuned! 


 

Is Accounting for Me?” High School Conferences – Registration is Now Open!

Join us for a day of exploring the accounting profession! New this year, students will have the opportunity to participate in technology break-out sessions to understand how cutting-edge technological advances are affecting the accounting profession and being used by CPAs in their day to day career. Students will have the opportunity to learn about blockchain, data visualization, bots, and virtual reality (and try out some virtual reality goggles!) This event is appropriate for high-performing sophomores, juniors and seniors. Each school may bring 8-10 students, and additional students may be placed on a waitlist.
When: Friday, March 6
Where: Suffolk University
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.
The deadline to register is Friday, February 21.

Teacher Training Opportunity: AICPA APBP 2020 Northeast Regional Conference in Boston – Registration is Now Open! 

Over 1,500 accounting educators across the country have made the decision to take the next step in their careers. The APBP: Advanced Accounting program provides the tools and training you need to elevate your curriculum from basic concepts to a comprehensive overview of how accounting guides business decisions. This three-day training provides you with everything you need to bring students more advanced, engaging accounting content and inspire the next generation of CPAs.

Join your fellow accounting teachers at the Northeast Regional Conference:
When: Wednesday, July 29 – Friday, July 31, 2020
Where: RSM US LLP | Boston

Please note: You will be required to pay a $125 registration fee as a place holder to guarantee your spot at the conference. This fee will be fully refunded once you have completed the training.

Registration includes breakfast, lunch and all training materials. Teachers leave with a desk copy of the APBP textbook, lesson plans and assignments, PowerPoint presentations and pre-written exams with answer keys. Trained teachers also benefit from refresher videos and continuous support from the AICPA and APBP trainers. For more information, click here.

Attended this event in the past?
Join us for our 2nd annual APBP trained teacher conference! This track provides implementation assistance, a deep dive into select topics and collaborative team activities. Designed so you can interact with other accounting teachers like yourself, you’ll leave the conference with lesson plans and ways to implement the curriculum!


 

KPMG Future Leaders Program for Women

We are thrilled to share this exciting opportunity for women completing their senior year in high school! Applications are now open for the 2020 KPMG Future Leaders Program, a charitable initiative focused on developing future generations of women leaders. This opportunity will award a student:
  • A scholarship of $10,000 per year for four years of college;
  • A pairing with an executive woman mentor for one-year; and
  • A three-day leadership development retreat held this summer at KPMG’s new state-of-the art Innovation and Learning Center in the community of Lake Nona in Orlando, FL.
