From the Massachusetts Society of CPAs:
“Is Accounting for Me? From College to Career” fall conferences will take place on November 4 at Babson College and November 18 at Suffolk University.
The event includes:
- Interactive activities;
- Interactive activities;Panel discussions with accounting professionals and college students;
- Panel discussions with accounting professionals and college students;
- A networking lunch with faculty, students and CPA practitioners; and
- An optional tour of the campus.
An invitation for similar conferences scheduled for Bentley University (March 24) and UMass Amherst (Date TBD) will be sent in the spring.
“Is Accounting for Me?” is appropriate for high-performing seniors who are considering studying accounting or business at the college level. The educational requirements for CPA certification are rigorous, necessitating one year beyond a four-year BS degree as well as successful completion of the Uniform CPA Exam. Participants should be selected on your personal recommendation, based on their academic standing and level of maturity to work in a team environment with students from other schools; exceptional juniors will be considered if space permits.
Registration and continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. and the day will conclude at 1:15 p.m. There is no fee to attend. For schools with a financial hardship, the Society is offering a limited number of grants to reimburse for transportation and substitute teacher expenses. (Register early, first-come, first-served. One grant per school year, maximum amount $100.)
Each school may bring up to six (6) students and you are welcome to attend both events. Guidance counselors who would like to refer a student who is not currently enrolled in an accounting course may do so. With your approval, students may come unchaperoned. See photos of previous conferences.
